25 Years Fall of the Berlin Wall

2014, the exhibition “25 Years Fall of the Berlin Wall” documented activities in the shadow, the arbitrary division of common people’s lives and their every day routines on both sides of the divided East and West-Berlin.

Just half a sentence, uttered at a 1989 press conference in East Berlin, suddenly changed the world: “Freedom to travel…I guess that is possible right away…” That same night, East Berliners forced the border crossings to be opened. With the Fall of the Berlin Wall came the end of the division of Germany and the era of the “Cold War”. In a personal address to us, Michail Gorbachev reminded how importance it is to seize the rare opportunities for a peaceful life in Europe.
